With three distinctive singer/songwriters working and writing together, Sun Jones has become musical entity much bigger than the sum of its parts. Chris Nemitz (guitar and vocals), John Vanderpool (saxophone, flute and vocals), Charley Carrozo (guitar and vocals), Michael Lewis (drums and percussion) and Jay Sullivan (bass and vocals) have created a big, original rock sound with a hopeful message bursting with raw energy. The music of Sun Jones stretches the boundaries of traditional categories like modern rock, adult contemporary, funk and country to the point where this crossover appeal meets itself full circle and leaves the listener inspired by the simplicity of life affirming energy that can only come from honest music and heartfelt lyrics. The name “Sun Jones” reflects the main themes of the music and lyrics which are as much about the struggles of present reality as they are about hope for a better future. In short, Sun Jones = struggle for hope.

Sun Jones is an experienced group of musicians from bands including The Candles, Heavy Metal Horns, Lamine Toure and Group Saloum and Another Planet who have toured extensively in this country and others and have played venues ranging from the Paradise and Somerville Theater in Boston to Wembley Stadium in the UK. Members of Sun Jones have opened for and headlined in front of bands such as Derek Trucks, Booker T and the MG’s, Extreme, Rusted Root and Guster. Sun Jones is in the process of mixing its self titled debut cd at Mad Oaks Studio in Allston, MA which is due to be released in the Spring of 2010.

Sun Jones is made up of five veteran musicians and songwriters from the Boston area.

     Charley Carrozo on guitar and vocals, is a very gifted songsmith and exciting performer from Another Planet and more recently The Coalboilers w/ Gary Backstrom. 
   
     Chris Nemitz plays lead guitar, keyboards and vocals. Chris also played in Another Planet and The Candles and currently with Close to home and Zagnutt.

      
      Jay Sullivan, bass guitar and vocals comes from the Boston based funk band Felix Brown who featued Keith Harris (of the Black eyed peas & Fergie) on drums. 

       
      

 Michael Lewis on drums is a veteran of the Afro-Mbalax band Group Saloum. His worldly beats add a distinctive flavor to the Sun Jones rhythm section.

       On Sax, flute & percussion is a true veteran of the Boston music scene, John Vanderpool. Originally from the Heavy Metal Horns, John has played with many local and national acts including Danny Klein, Extreme & the Del Fuegos.
